Repeat pattern printing can be a great addition to your T-Shirt collection. You are no longer limited with printing techniques. Evolving textile printing technology means that the possibilities are endless when creating T-Shirt products.
Repeat or seamless patterns have traditionally been repeated across the fabric to form a continuous yardage. Now you can also create a repeat designs that are custom engineered to fit your products, either with cut and sewn pieces or fully finished garments.
Repeat Pattern Fabric Printing
Rotary Screen Printing is the most commercial form of pattern repeat printing, each print run is produced in volume. The high minimums are due to the cost and time required to prepare a unique set of screens, with each color in a design requiring a separate screen. Production speed, soft handle and durability make this a desirable option for large scale production runs. The flexibility to print on colored grounds is also an advantage.
Sublimation Printing, also known as heat transfer or paper print allows you to print high quality images, unlimited color and vibrancy. There is no feel to the print and it will not crack, peel off or deteriorate. Unlike rotary screen printing there are no screen set up costs, no minimums and you can print continuous pattern or cut and sew panel prints. White fabric bases are required to allow the sublimation dyes to work. You can only sublimate on specialty 100% polyester. This is due to the temperatures needed to achieve a high quality print and depth of color. There are some amazing polyester T-Shirt jersey fabrics available today so don’t be deterred from using synthetics.
Digital Printing, opens up endless opportunities for customization, small run printing, sampling and experimentation. Digital printing is basically the same technique used by desk top ink-jet printers. Again, no screen set up costs, no minimums and you can print continuous pattern or cut and sew panel prints. Best of all you can achieve detailed graphics with limitless color on 100% cotton. You can go from the design stage to finished fabric in a matter of weeks (or days, with an on-site printer). This allows you to take advantage of current trends or test products before they go to market.
Repeat Pattern ALL-OVER Garment Printing
ALL-OVER Dye Sublimation Printing or dye-sublimation is a printing process that uses heat to transfer dye onto a 100% polyester. You can fast track the process of achieving pattern repeats on your T-Shirts by printing directly onto a finished garment with vibrant, full color, high-resolution graphics.
ALL-OVER Belt Garment printing is a technique used to print 100% cotton finished T-Shirt garments. This process easily covers the entire garment using water-based inks so there is a limit to the amount of colors that can be achieved. The result is a soft hand feel.
*Note that with both of these ALL-OVER pattern repeat garment printing techniques, seams, collars, cuffs, neck ribs and other areas not flat will have areas where the ink won’t print producing white crease marks*.
